Leaves, Brush & Grass
Fall Leaves will be collected from mid-October through December 31.
Spring Leaves will be collected from March 30 – May 8. Leaves should be raked to the curb but not into the street.
Brush is collected on the third Wednesday of each month. Call (609) 395-0900, ext. 229, to arrange for a pickup. Pile brush neatly at the curb.**
** New NJ State Law Stormwater Regulations prohibit all yard wastes from being placed at the curb or along the street more than 7 days prior to our scheduled collections, unless they are bagged or otherwise containerized. Cranbury Township Ordinance 120-4.C. (2) requires that all leaves to be collected must be placed between the curb and sidewalk for pickup. Ordinance 120-4.C. (3). (b) requires that all material to be chipped should be placed at the curb on the collection day. The NJ State Law Stormwater Regulations prohibit the placing of yard waste closer than 10 feet from any storm sewer inlet along the street, unless they are bagged or otherwise containerized.
Special Items
White Goods/Appliances are collected on the second Wednesday of each month. Call (609) 395-0900, ext. 229, to arrange for a pickup. There is a fee of $10.00 per item for this pickup service.
Trash and recycling collections may occur on the same day in some areas. Please be especially careful in using additional containers for your recyclables. Be certain that these additional containers are open, without tops and placed at the curb with your blue MCIA containers, so that they are not mistaken for trash.
Adjoining Residences: Neighbors can make recycling collections more efficient by placing their recyclables in one grouping at the curb. This allows the truck to stop once, instead of two or three times, and saves time. However, you must remember to clearly mark your own containers with your name and address.
Book Smart
Students throughout the County are getting hands-on recycling education with the introduction
of a book recycling program sponsored by the MCIA and the County. Outdated hardcover and softcover books
that can no longer be used, sold or given away are
being recycled in this program. Students remove the hard covers from books and then reap the rewards:
The recycling processor pays for each ton recycled.
Shred It!
Middlesex County residents are invited to recycle old documents and confidential files safely and securely at mobile shredding events scheduled throughout the year. Bring old files, receipts, bills, financial statements and any documents that have not been recycled due to confidentiality concerns and watch them get shredded on-site. Call the County Division of Solid Waste Management, (732) 745-4170, for dates and locations.
