HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE
(HHW)
Seven household hazardous waste drop-off
events will be held this year at various locations.
HHW DROP-OFF IS FREE!
RULES:
Middlesex County residents only (proof of County residency will be requested).
Residential waste only. No waste from commercial or industrial sources.
No containers larger than 5 gallons.
Leave HHW materials in their original containers whenever possible. If materials are not in original containers, label the container to indicate contents.
Items accepted under the MCIA’s HHW program include, but are not limited to the following materials:
Adhesives
Aerosol cans
Antifreeze
Batteries (household or car)
Brake fluid
Drain cleaner
Driveway sealer
Fluorescent light bulbs (no broken bulbs, please)
Herbicides
Kerosene
Lighter fluid
Mercury thermometers
Motor oil
Oil filters
Oven cleaner
Pesticides
Petroleum lubricants
Photographic chemicals
Pool chemicals
Propane Tanks
Transmission fluid
Operators at the collection centers will ask you for proof of your Middlesex County residency (e.g., a driver’s license.)

DIRECTIONS
TO THE SITES
Woodbridge Municipal Service Center,
225 Smith St., Keasbey
From the South and West:
Take either Rt. 1 North to Rt. 287 South, or the N.J. Turnpike North to exit 10,
and get onto Rt. 440 North headed towards Staten Island.
Take the exit marked Smith St./Industrial Ave./Fords.
Follow the signs for Smith St., bearing left towards Keasbey. Go through 1 light, stay in the right lane and go under the
bridge (Matisz Meat Market on right.) Turn
right at the sign for the Woodbridge Municipal Service Center.
Go down the hill towards the river and turn right to the Public Works
yard. See guard for unloading
information.
From the South and East:
Take Rt. 9 North to Rt. 35 North. Stay in the right lane following signs for Rt. 35 North and
go around the circle. Stay right
and take the Rt. 35 Victory bridge across the river.
Turn left at the 1st light onto Smith St.
Continue for just under 1 mile and stay in the left lane.
Just after passing under the bridges, take the left lane U-turn (Economy
Fence Company and Patio Center on the left.)
After passing Matisz Meat Market on the right, turn right at the sign for
the Woodbridge Municipal Service Center. Go
down the hill towards the river and turn right to the Public Works yard.
Middlesex
County Road Department, Apple Orchard Lane, North Brunswick
From the North:
Take Rt. 1 South to Rt. 130 South. Continue on Rt. 130 for approximately 3 miles and turn left
onto Apple Orchard Lane, towards the Middlesex County Adult Correctional
Facility. The Road Department
garage is the 1st building on the left.
Signs will be posted on drop-off day.
From the South:
Take Rt. 130 North. After entering
North Brunswick, continue for approximately 1 mile and turn right onto Apple
Orchard Lane, towards the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility.
The Road Department garage is the 1st building on the left.
Signs will be posted on drop-off day.
Middlesex
County College, Woodbridge Ave. and Mill Rd., Edison
From the North and Northwest:
Take Rt. 287 South. Near the point
at which Rt. 287 becomes Rt. 440, take the exit for Rt. 514 West (also known as
Woodbridge Ave.) towards Bonhamtown and Raritan Center.
Continue on Woodbridge Ave. for about 2 miles, passing the 1st
entrance to the college. (DO NOT
use this entrance on drop-off day.) At
the next light, turn left onto Mill Rd. Take
Mill Rd. to the 1st light and turn left into the college entrance.
The collection area will be on your right. Watch for signs and/or traffic cones.
From the South:
Take Rt. 1 North. Shortly after
crossing the Raritan River, take the exit for Woodbridge Ave. (Rt. 514 east.)
Once merged onto Rt. 514, continue for approximately 2 miles.
Bear right at the sign for Mill Rd./Middlesex County College.
Once on Mill Rd., continue to the next traffic light and turn left into
the college entrance. The
collection area will be on your right. Watch
for signs and/or traffic cones.
Old
Bridge Department of Public Works, Old Bridge Municipal Complex, Rt. 516, Old
Bridge:
From the North:
Follow Rt. 9 South and exit for Rt. 516 east towards Matawan.
Merge onto Rt. 516 east and travel less than ¼ of a mile and turn left
into the Municipal Complex. Signs
will be posted.
From the West:
Take Rt. 18 south into East Brunswick, passing Brunswick Square Mall on the
right. Take the exit for
Matawan/Rt. 516 East. Travel on Rt.
516 east for approximately 3 miles. After
passing the interchange for Rt. 9, travel less than ¼ mile and turn left into
the Municipal Complex. Signs will
be posted.
