Holidays
Recycling collection holidays for 2010: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. If your collection day falls on any of these holidays, collection is rescheduled for the following Saturday.

Note:
Municipal Public Works holidays do NOT affect the recycling collection schedule.

Grass, Vegetation, Leaves & Branches
Grass and Vegetation may be brought to the Recycling Center during posted hours with Grass/Vegetation Coupons and the proper Recycling ID Pass.

• Vegetative yard debris includes all weeds, leaves and leafy garden trimmings.
• Plastic Bags must be emptied. Please DO NOT use biodegradable leaf bags. It is recommended that residents participate in the “Cut It and Leave It” grass fertilizing program.
• Coupons are not required for the disposal of leaves at the Recycling Center during the curbside leaf collection period of mid-October through the end of December.
• One (1) coupon is required for each 35 gallon bag or container, two (2) or more for larger containers.
• Grass/Vegetation Coupons can be purchased at the Tax Office in the Municipal Building, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Municipal Offices closed lunchtime.
• Coupon cost $1 each and are sold in blocks of 10 for $10. Coupons are valid only in the year purchased.

Leaves must be placed in biodegradable leaf bags to be collected curbside from the middle of October through the end of December. Leaves in plastic bags or loose leaves will not be picked up. No appointment is necessary. Leaves may be brought to the Recycling Center with a Grass/Vegetation coupon when not in the curbside leaf collection season.

Branches may be brought to the Recycling Center. One curbside branch pickup appointment may be made for branches no wider than 4 inches in diameter, cut into 5 foot length and tied in 1 foot bundles. Please call (732) 562-2390 to schedule a pickup appointment from January to mid-October.

Piscataway’s Recycling Center is located at the Municipal Complex, 505 Sidney Road, between the Department of Public Works and Police Headquarters.

Regular hours: March 2, 2010 – December 10, 2010
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 1 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
Thursday from 1 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Winter hours: December 15, 2009 – February 26, 2010
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 1 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Closed Sunday, Monday and holidays.

Recycling Center ID Pass - Please Note: Piscataway residential home owners are mailed an Identification Pass that must be presented for entry to the Recycling/Trash Center. The Recycling ID Pass entitles residents to bring curbside recycling in addition to motor oil, tires, metal, batteries (rechargeable and button cell household batteries only), antifreeze, and branches.

Trash Center Coupons/household items: Residents are mailed four (4) Trash Center Coupons per calendar year. Coupons are required for each automobile trip of household bulk trash disposal, carpeting, furniture, lumber and other non-recyclable material. Pickup trucks are required to surrender two (2) coupons per trip. No trucks larger than a half-ton pickup or built-up sideboards are allowed.

Curbside Trash Pickup by Appointment Program: Items collected curbside include furniture, appliances, lumber, metal items and miscellaneous household debris. Residents are entitled to two appointments per year.
• No kitchen garbage is accepted.
• No concrete, rocks or dirt are accepted.
• No hazardous material or toxic waste are allowed.
• No consumer electronics are accepted.
