Roosevelt Care Center Receives High Marks in State Review

June 12, 2007 -- A 10-member team from the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services found that the staff and administration at Roosevelt Care Center go beyond the minimum requirements "to provide their residents with excellent care."

As a result, Roosevelt Care Center in Edison has achieved Advisory Standards, which according to the State Health Department "represent a commitment by a nursing home to exceed minimum requirements in the provision of services to its residents."

"We appreciate your efforts to provide your residents with a high quality environment, and we hope our recognition of this effort is helpful to you in continuing to achieve a high standard of care in your facility," wrote Barbara Goldman, assistant director of the State Health and Senior Services Department, in a letter informing the Roosevelt staff of its achievement.

Almost 400 residents receive long-term and rehabilitative care at Roosevelt Care Center, which is owned and operated by the Middlesex County Improvement Authority (MCIA).

In an exit conference with residents, staff, families and visitors, the State review team commented that the Roosevelt staff and administration demonstrate a passion and drive to do the best for the residents, according to Dr. Frank Damiani, Roosevelt’s Administrator and Director of Resident Care.

"The team leader said that the residents like Roosevelt and would recommend the level of care we provide to any of their loved ones. This says we are doing a great job," Damiani said.

In its annual review, the State team assessed every aspect of the care center, including quality of life, quality of care, resident rights, dietary services, documentation, environmental standards, health and safety and recreation.

"I congratulate Dr. Damiani and his administration and staff for this excellent review and thank them for their dedication to the Roosevelt residents and their families," said MCIA Chairman Leonard J. Roseman. "The review team found what we have known to be true: Our staff and administrators go above and beyond to offer comprehensive, compassionate care on a daily basis. We are extremely proud of them."

"The evaluation is always a very positive learning experience for us," Damiani said. "Achieving Advisory Standards is very exciting and rewarding. It means the State truly recognizes the high quality of care we provide our residents."
