Holidays
Recycling collection holidays for 2008: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
If your collection day falls on any of these holidays, collection is rescheduled for the following Saturday.
Note: Municipal Public Works holidays do NOT affect the recycling collection schedule.

Weather
Emergencies
Changes in collection schedules due to weather emergencies or other emergency situations will be announced on the following radio stations: WCTC (1450 AM) and WMGQ (98.3 FM). You may also check for changes on the web site at www.mciauth.com or by calling (800) 488-MCIA (6242) for specific information.
Leaves, Brush & Grass
Leaves are collected in biodegradable paper
bags. (Leaves in plastic bags will NOT be collected.) Leaves can be taken to
Fort Grumpy in biodegradable bags on a seasonal basis. The Borough provides free
leaf bags to residents. Collection schedules will appear on the local cable
television community board on Channel 15.
Brush is collected curbside on the first and third Fridays of the month
in January, February, March, May, June, August and September. Brush material
must not be greater than 5 inches in diameter, must be tied in bundles and
cannot exceed 4 feet in length (weight limit is 30 lbs. per bundle).
Grass will be collected curbside from April
21 - August 29, 2008, in clearly marked, 32-gallon containers that are
covered, have two handles and do not exceed 30 pounds in weight. NO PLASTIC
BAGS. Grass can also be recycled at Fort Grumpy in the designated container.

Items
Sayreville's Fort Grumpy Recycling Drop-Off Center is located on
Bordentown Avenue. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. -
2:30 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m. - 12 p.m. It is closed Sundays. For holiday
closure information, call (732) 390-7042, or tune into your cable television
community bulletin board, Channel 15. Items collected curbside, as well as
brush, grass, textiles, auto tires (limit 4, no rims), household batteries and
computer equipment are accepted. Motor oil is NOT accepted. 2008 Fort Grumpy
Saturday closure: November 29
Textiles (clothing or fabric larger than 1-foot square) may be deposited for recycling in specially marked containers at the Sayreville Library, Fort Grumpy, the Sayreville Senior Center, the Sayreville ShopRite shopping center and the Sayreville Recreation Building and Police Complex.
Household batteries may be deposited for recycling in specially marked containers during regular operating hours at the Fort Grumpy Recycling Drop-Off Center, the Borough Public Works office, the Borough Hall Water Department, the Sayreville Public Library and the Sayreville Senior Center.
White Goods/Appliances containing refrigerants, such as refrigerators,
freezers and air conditioners, will be collected by appointment only on the
fourth Thursday of each month from January through October. Call (732) 390-7042.
