SHARED SERVICES PROGRAMS
The Shared Services Program is a cooperative effort among Middlesex County, Middlesex County Improvement Authority and the County's 25 municipalities. It supports the towns by providing a way to reduce daily operating expenses through cooperative purchasing.

The Shared Services Program offers the "Common Cents" Program for purchasing equipment, services and supplies.

By taking advantage of bids solicited for goods and services by Middlesex County, municipalities and local authorities can save more – whether it be energy or road salt -- municipalities take advantage of the cost savings presented in the county bids.

The MCIA communicates with the participating municipalities and local authorities by informing them of new bid items, and the Authority also issues an annual compilation of all current goods and services available.

The MCIA worked with the County on a number of gas and electric aggregations, 1998-2007. Due to the volatility of the energy market, the MCIA and a number of municipalities and local authorities have been able to participate in an electric aggregation overseen by the Middlesex Regional Educational Services Commission that offers savings on a longer-term basis. The Commission's Co-op offers other goods and services to participants.  Information is available at http://www.mresc.k12.nj.us under MRESC Co-op.
